What a wonderful day I had.

Neil, a fellow couchsurfer, was giving a tour of Zutphen, the city where he lives, and 12 of us sign up for it. The day was cold and very windy, but that did not stop us. He showed us all around town and explained the various places and buildings. Very nice city, it was a Saturday, so the market was in town, and by now, you know how much I like markets.
A protective wall enclosed the city, because the Vikings destroyed most of the city, so to protect themselves from future invasions they built a wall around the town. Some of this wall still exits, and now a day there are houses incorporated into the wall.
The train station is new, because during WWII, there  was a train full of ammunition going by, just when the station got bombed, as you can image, not just the station but also all the surroundings where demolish.
Many of these towns all over Europe have been rebuilt due to the war, they all have buildings dating back, however, many parts of the towns were destroyed.
It is a shame that we still destroying cities and town, and for what? Just because we do not agree with the way some governments run their country. Or because of a different religion? Or because our president wants to have a war? Well, let me get down of my soapbox, this blog is not about politics.
