Deventer

I met this one very nice couchsurfer lady, Ankie, for coffee one day in Apeldoorn and we got along just great. A few days later she was going shopping in Deventer and invited me to go with her.
We had a great day, she is a shopper just like me, so it was nice.
Very nice old town, enclosed by a canal, and the customary protective wall.
The centre was very nice, and in the square, they have a plaque on the ground commemorating the place of where they use to hang the criminals.
On the outskirts of town you have all the farms with the black and white cows, and the sheep, gracing in the green pastures, it is so pretty.
As soon as you leave the highway to enter the town, you have to pass through the street with all the windows with red lights. Nice welcoming into town.
We went to a cafĂ© for coffee, and we got serve the customary coffee with a cookie and a 3 oz glass of water, that was it,  you just get one little glass of water. As I finish my coffee and water, I asked for another glass of water and I was told NO. I even offer to pay for the water and they still said no. That never happened to me before, even Ankie could not believe it, and she is Dutch, she should know if that was customary. Oh well.
