Retiring in paradise

Many people dream of living in paradise, however, as the saying goes, be careful with what you dream.
When I wrote, "Fulfill your Dreams," I was basing most of the advice on my lifelong dream of living as a nomad. Needless to say, my information pertains to any kind of dream you want to achieve.
While in the book I talk about house-sitting, workaway, and helpX, the same advice also works for people that want to move to another country.
In the book, I mentioned a few times to house-sit and do workaway or helpx around your house for about six months, to make sure you like that life-style and want to travel that way.
Well, when you decide to move to another country, you should follow the same advice, except this time you should go and live in the country of your choice for at least six months to see if you like it, and want to live there.
In my 11 years of travel, I have come across many people that moved to another country for retirement, or economic reasons, or better weather, or simply because they have been there for a week or two on vacation, and they liked the place, and they decided to make the move.
Many of the people I have met are glad they moved, and they love their new country. However, many people are not happy with the decision. Either because they miss their children or grandchildren, or because they can't find the food brands they are accustom to, or whatever else.
My advice is to rent a house for six months in the country and the area you want to move and after that time, make your decision. Also, make sure that you can afford to live comfortably in the country of your choosing, don't let the allure of the move blind your decision.
Many people have moved to gorgeous countries to find out that the cost of living is not within their budget, or that the humidity destroys everything, or that the cold weather is unbearable.
Do not sell your home and your belongings before you are sure that that is what you want to do, because it is not easy to go back. Moreover, you will incur the expenses of moving once again.

As for me, I still love my nomadic life, and I plan on keep on going for many more years. Needless to say, that now I am in hiatus due to the Covis19, hopefully soon, I will be able to resume my beloved life-style once again.
