Croatian houses

Many houses in the country side are not finished and the reason behind it is that it is not a necessity. Nevertheless, there are many houses that are being finish now a day, and these houses are very colorful.
To me, it was different looking at all these unfinished houses around the finished ones.

One of the first words I learned in Croatian was sutra = tomorrow. The Croatian people are happy people, they have no worries, no rush, everything is sutra.
 To give you one example:
The gardener came on his riding lawn mower to cut the grass that was over a foot high already. He cut half of it and left. At that moment I though he was going home to get something, however, 3 hrs later I asked my host:
Me: do you know when he is coming back?
Host: in 2 or 3 days
Me: but he is not finish
Host: it is enough work for today, he’ll be back
And that it is the reason that most houses are not finish. They are good to live in, the outside it is not a necessity.

Near the rivers most houses have stork nests on the chimneys or telephone poles, they were so cute…. You cannot see it on the pictures but the stork was feeding her babies….

One more funny thing: as you can see in the photo, the parking lines are for perpendicular parking, however, everybody parks diagonally.

Just different customs that for me were funny but for them is normal.
Still, beautiful country and hopefully one day I will return.

A blonde moment

One day my host in Croatia took me to Papuk Mountain to see the national park and Jankovac waterfall.
What a beautiful park, after lunch at the restaurant where we had stroganoff with gnocchi, we walked the park and then we did one of the 4 trails toward the waterfall.
It was a great walk, except for when the dog found a big snake right on the trail, but it had a round head so it was not poisonous, so we kept on walking.

As we arrived at the waterfall I started taking pictures while looking at the water cascading on the rocks.

So, there I am, opening my arms in admiration while praising the beauty before me, when, as I lift my right arm, I see my camera, that has been hanging on my wrist, fly high and far descending into the waterfall, landing on a rock in the crystal clear water.
By the time I saw it happening, it happened. It only took a few seconds but it was like if I was seeing it in slow motion and by the time I screamed “my camera”, it already was at the bottom of the waterfall.

I did not care about losing the camera, however the pictures I did not want to lose. So I descended the rocks into the water, that by the way there were not cold, and I retrieved my camera and climbed right back up.
After 5 days on being in a plate with rice on a window sill by the sun, the camera still was not working, but I saved my pictures.

Game of Thrones season 4 finale

Spoiler Alert!!!

I was hoping so much that Tyrion Lannister would not die.  I was seating at the edge of my seat not knowing if he would be able to escape or not. When he killed his father I wanted to clap, besides it was very apropos that he die while seated on the toilet, a proper throne for a piece of shit of a man.
I love Peter Dinklage character, besides his character is one of the few people on that show that is actually good and have some common sense.
I also love the way Arya has grown into a survivor instead of a victim.  AndI like that she did not kill the hound and let him there to rot after she stole his money. Good for her. I am also glad that Arya is looking forward toward the future however I don’t know what the future will bring, after all, we only saw that man on season two and I only know he was some type of religious criminal and that he could change his appearance or something like that.
Tyrion and Arya are my favourite personages and I hope they will survive and one day one of them will rule the seven kingdoms.
After a few episodes without seeing Bran Stark we see him now reaching and meeting the one eye crow, but I don’t know if Bran will became a crow or what.  I guess we have to wait till next season.
As for me, I am disappointed at Khaleesi. OK, she liberated all the slaves but now she doesn’t know how to rule. And as for chaining her dragons, the one eating the children is Drogon, not the two that she chained; these were good and well behaved. What kind of mother does that?
Anyway, I am content with the way the season ended, however, now we have to wait until next year!!!

Croatia

Everybody that has been to Croatia is always recommending for everybody to go there, and I am glad I did.
Geographically is a beautiful country but what makes it even better is the people. They are so nice and friendly and welcoming that as soon as you arrive you feel at home.

I stayed in Ratkovica for 10 days in a farm with many chickens, ducks, turkeys, geese, guinea fowls, 2 rabbits, 16 sheep and couple peacocks.
The turkeys, chickens, guinea fowl and peacocks had babies, and they were all so cute…. The rabbit was pregnant; however it did not have the babies before I left, oh well….

guinea fowl
turkeys
peacocks

The first day I was there, my host and I sat at a table in the backyard to have lunch and the peacock gave us a beautiful show of feathers and dance, just great!

Raktovica is a very small town. The place I was staying was outside of town, very peaceful and quiet. For entertainment you go visit your friends or neighbors and have something to drink and eat. Everybody wants to feed you, every two hours they want to feed you.
The food up north consists of goulash with gnocchi, kielbasa, and different types of sausages, cheeses and breads, all very good and tasty and plenty of it.
Down the coast they eat more sea food and Italian food. Lots of pizza, pasta and gelato, all very good also, however, it did not felt like Croatian food.
